There is this prompt that does the rounds that tells you to blog using the alphabet as your guide. Each letter becomes a blog. I decided that as a challenge, this would be good to get me blogging every day.
P = puppy
We have a (at time of writing this) 14-week old Jack Russell terrier. He is intelligent, full of mischief and so much bloody work! Yes, I adore him.
Having him in the house is like having a child. We have to ensure he is fed, clean and gets enough exercise. A bored puppy is the equivalent to satan’s spawn, and that is on a good day! Our little JT finds ways of annoying us and the latest is jumping. I did not know that a puppy that small could jump that high! And he will do it to land on you and get your attention because you really should not be doing that other thing you are doing!
Some moments are hard, and it feels like we made a mistake and it is just too much of a strain on us and our relationship and resources. Then he will come and cuddle and it all gets lost in the unconditional love he shows.
I know this will get easier. This last weekend he has already started to walk better on the lead and even though distractions abound, he is progressing. So I will take the small victories and watch as he grows and finds his place in our world.
Between then and now, I will have my moments.
